How Long Can a Protein Shake Sit Out

  1. Earlier going bad? If I mixed h2o and whey powder and sipped on information technology for a few hours would that be ok? How long does it accept to go bad?
  2. Yuck, I tin can't imagine sipping on that. I usually simply drink it as fast as possible.
  3. Deductive reasoning:

How long does information technology take for water to become bad?

How long does it accept for whey protein to go bad?

    Need I say more?

  4. Probably, considering the entire reason freeze-dried and powdered products have such a long shelf life is solely due to the fact that they've had all of their water removed.

Honestly I retrieve you would be practiced for a few hours, but I wouldn't drinkable anything that has saturday out overnight or anything.

  5. That's non deductive. I had protein shakes get bad in about four hours during summer, not a fun thing...
  6. if you're in a relatively cool place, i'd say four-6 hours. if it is warm and humid, i wouldn't leave it out for more than than an hr or two. when in doubt, just put it in the fridge.
  7. Dude, just retrieve of it like regular milk and care for information technology the same.

It'll start to separate afterward a few hours, but remixing it volition fix that. Should be fine for quite a while every bit long as the temp isn't too high.

Equally to all the guys chugging their protein, it's better for your digestion if you lot sip it. Just purchase some better tasting poly peptide.

  10. I agree....plus if y'all are adding stuff like creatien the water will mess up the results of the creatine pretty chop-chop
  11. How so? Practise you lot accept any bear witness of this?
  12. Creatine in water slowly degrades to creatinine, which is completely useless. I think the one-half-life is something similar 12 hours or so, so it doesn't happen very quickly. However, best policy is to drink upwards asap.

That's dunce reasoning, not deductive reasoning. That's like proverb, "A fifteen-pound turkey takes four-5 hours to cook; deductive reasoning, a 30-pound turkey takes 8-10 hours to cook." Y'all'll deduce a burnt-donkey turkey.

H2o changes everything. Powdered milk will keep for years. Simply if you add water, and don't refrigerate information technology, then information technology volition not final the day.

To largeman, I know I've seen this question answered before, but I can't remember the answer (since it wasn't really important to me because if I don't drink my shake within a one-half hr I only dump it out). Treat it like skim milk. Would yous potable skim milk that's been at room temp for 4 hours? Just call back that bacteria grow at a geometric charge per unit, and that growth is kicking-started past the improver of the water to the whey. So yous should too consider that fifty-fifty if it's safely consumable it may not exist desirable.

  14. Throw in some kefir grains and it should keep more or less indefinitely as the kefir biota outcompete any other microbes.

    ???

That doesn't seem possible. I don't know much about Kefir, specifically, merely a quick Wiki reports, "Kefir grains are a combination of leaner and yeasts in a matrix of proteins, lipids, and sugars." So yous're basically simply fermenting the whey milk shake, aye? I realize there isn't much residual sugar in fifty-fifty whey poly peptide concentrate, but there is some, and besides, since this "Kefir" is just bacteria and yeast, aren't you alternatively probably only turning the damn thing into yogurt?

  17. Pretty much, though kefir is generally thinner than yogurt, and the taste can exist varied depending on how long you let it ferment, from slightly tangy (12 hours) to natural language-sizzling sourness (four-five days). Most people exit information technology for ii or 3 days at room temp, after which you just carve up the grains for re-employ and drink up. In that location'southward zero possibility of contamination from other microbes as they're instantly outcompeted by the kefir.

The only macronutrient change resulting from the fermentation is a reduction in carbs, and perhaps a very slight increase in protein. B & K vitamins steadily increase over time.

I'one thousand not entirely certain how it would interact being fermented with a flavoured protein powder, simply I guess it would be fine as practically all the ingredients would be milk-derived anyhow, and any added sugars would either be metabolised or ignored.

Personally I would ferment the kefir for a day or ii, remove the bulk of the grains, so mix in the protein - the result would exist a slightly yogurty shake that would keep unrefrigerated more or less indefinitely.

    Farther reading FYI...
