Using a Portable Card to Measure Distance and Size

There is a way to measure out something that is longer than a ruler you have, and it is (very) portable. Mitchell Charity has a page with template on business cards, which assistance y'all mensurate distance and size of an object. Depends on your center and the arm's length and print out the appropriate pdf template that specific to the length. Then you basically concur the card at your total arm's length and utilise the meter on the side to measure out:

Card Sample

Example usage: Agree the carte at arm'south length, looking past it at a distant door. Alpine people, and doors, are near 2 meters (yards) tall. If a distant door comes upwardly to the x30 mark on the card, then then it is 2 times 30 meters away, and so sixty meters. If information technology only comes up to the x50 marking, then it would be ii x 50 = 100 meters away. Same with tall people. A short one meter (3 ft) person at x50 would be one x 50 = 50 meters away. A iii or 4 meter high building flooring at x20 would be (3 or 4) x twenty = (60 or eighty) meters away.
